Born with the effects of Spina Bifida, Billy has defied the odds and become one of the most successful athletes Canada has ever produced.

Less concerned with individual accolades, Billy chooses rather to focus on the success of the team.

Billy has been a member of Team Canada since the age of 14 and has played just about every role within the team dynamics. Counted on for his fiery play and aggressive hits, Billy is also an invaluable leader and mentor to the younger players on the team.

Billy's message is about overcoming obstacles, achieving success and helping all those around you become better.

Now his power, leadership and passion on and off the ice have also made him an icon in the sport and a driving force in its accessibility and popularity.

Teaching others about what it means to be a good teamate, having a strong work ethic and discipline to achieve personal and team success and having the worklife balance to share an incredibly full-filling life with his daughter Kensi and wife Sami Jo Small, a three-time Olympian as the goaltender on Canada's National Women's Team.
